Digital Archiving Policy

Journal of Transformative Pedagogies and Learner Engagement is dedicated to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of all published scholarly content. We follow a robust digital preservation strategy to ensure that our academic content remains accessible to researchers and the global scholarly community for future generations.

1. Digital Preservation Strategy

Journal of Transformative Pedagogies and Learner Engagement employs a multi-tiered digital preservation approach that includes local and cloud-based storage, integration with preservation networks, and third-party indexing support. Our preservation infrastructure includes:
  • Primary and Backup Servers: All journal content is hosted on a secure primary server and mirrored to a backup server. In the event of a server failure, the journal can be restored and operational within 48 hours.

  • Cloud Storage (Google Drive): A secure, regularly updated copy of the journal’s content is stored on Google Drive, providing a reliable third layer of redundancy.

  • Open Journal Systems (OJS) Platform: Journal of Transformative Pedagogies and Learner Engagement operates on OJS, which supports modern preservation workflows and ensures structural consistency for long-term access.

2. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

As an OJS-based journal, Journal of Transformative Pedagogies and Learner Engagement is integrated with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This network:

  • Published articles are securely archived in a network of distributed, trusted preservation nodes.

  • The system automatically preserves journal content without manual intervention.

  • This ensures continued access even in the event of data loss, technical failure, or unexpected platform disruption.

PKP PN is recognised as a robust and reliable preservation solution within the global scholarly publishing community.

3. Manuscript and Data Preservation

We maintain high standards for the management of submitted and published materials:

  • Accepted Manuscripts: Final versions of all published articles are permanently archived on our platform and via PKP PN.

  • Rejected Manuscripts: Submissions not accepted for publication are stored securely for internal records. Authors may request the removal of their rejected files.

  • Secure Storage: All manuscripts and supplementary files are protected through encryption, secure access control, and regular data integrity checks.

4. Website Archiving and Disaster Recovery

To ensure the continuous availability of the journal website and its contents:

  • All website data and published articles are stored on a live primary server, with a full mirror copy maintained on a backup server.

  • Backups are created regularly, and the system can be restored quickly in the event of downtime.

  • Google Drive acts as an additional safeguard for maintaining up-to-date copies of essential journal content.

5. Indexing and Third-Party Archival Support

Journal of Transformative Pedagogies and Learner Engagement enhances the discoverability and preservation of its content through inclusion in several trusted indexing and abstracting platforms. These services contribute to long-term access by maintaining metadata and, in many cases, full-text article availability.

We are in the process of joining various indexing and abstracting partners, including:

  • Google Scholar

  • Crossref (with DOI assignment for persistent linking and citation)

  • ResearchGate

  • J-Gate

  • Scilit

  • Semantic Scholar

  • WorldCat

These platforms help preserve published content across multiple repositories, expanding the reach and lifespan of the journal’s academic output.
